Project details:
This project involved planning, designing, and presenting a new Community Space called the "Learning Lab" for IKEA in Kings Mall, Hammersmith, in collaboration with BDP Architects. The space was intended for various activities such as master classes, workshops, business training, and forums, which required a highly adaptable design.
We aimed to create an open space format that incorporated several design elements, including modular furniture for workshops and seating, an arrangement that could accommodate lectures for 15 to 75 people, power sockets, a water supply, and a tool wall. Additionally, the space needed to be child-friendly and serve as an effective and flexible co-working area.
My team and I collaborated closely, meeting daily with the BDP team to discuss our design ideas and progress. After these discussions, we would individualize our tasks, checking in with each other in the mornings and evenings.
We meticulously worked through every aspect of the architecture, construction, and administration, all the way to furnishing and styling. I oversaw a significant portion of the project, with many of my ideas playing a crucial role in shaping the overall vision and design.

Results
The project was a great success. We completed the project on time and BDP were very happy with the final result. The design plan was effectively thought through and we were able to incorporate a majority of the design features IKEA set out for us. We used a wide array of different skill sets from each individual of the group, to come together and create an outstanding final design. Our work was then passed over to our client, IKEA, and we received great feedback from them regarding our carefully thought out design, design features and ultimate end result.
